Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Steep hill from Sao Bento — Guests warn that the walk from the metro is uphill and tiring, especially after a day of sightseeing.
  • Some staff rudeness — A few guests encountered less courteous employees, though the majority praised the team.
  • Limited breakfast options — Breakfast is adequate but may feel basic to those expecting a wide spread.
  • Possible noise from central location — Given the busy square and nearby restaurants, light sleepers might notice street sounds despite soundproofed rooms.

“Our room was bright and cheerful.”

“Service was mostly great, though a couple of staff members were quite rude. We got the same new, well-furnished queen room with a balcony we'd booked online and really enjoyed it.”

8.4Verified guest

“The location was a short walk to a hill, the Douro river, and the main shopping street. We had a nice evening at elebe Baixa nearby. Staff were courteous, and the room was reasonably spacious with a balcony and stunning view.”

8.4Verified guest

“Great location and very clean.”

8.4Verified guest

“The location is very good, but remember Porto is hilly and the hotel sits high up. Staff are friendly and speak Spanish. We liked the breakfast. The extra bed was a sofa bed, comfortable for adults. We saw extra beds in the corridor from other rooms, maybe for children. It's next to Santa Catarina Street with shops and cafeterias. The nearest metro is Sao Bento, 6 minutes away but with a big hill to climb to the hotel.”
